So this is the expiriment and the first chapter in that expiriment. I started this in 2019, inspiration suddenly struck me. Then it stalled a bit, but now I want to get this finished. So my aim is to publish one chapter a week on here. By the end it should form a short novella that I will publish on Amazon and you can buy if you liked it or ignore if you didnt. Without further ado chapter 1. Also The Expiriment isnt the name of the story, I actually dont have a title yet, so if you think of a good one let me know.
Chapter One
As Reggie sat, propped up by his elbow on the grass; he pondered whether what he was viewing was a science convention or a magic convention. In recent years he had noticed the two becoming bed friends in an consensual tryst of incest. Nothing like the days of being a boy and the all-knowing preacher draping those snakes over his mother; speaking in tongues, something about the devilery of humanity.
The church was easy; everything was laid out for you. Give yourself to God and all will be well, give in to temptation and God will punish you with exile to Hell. Since Reggie had left the Church behind his life had spiralled, downwards. Alcohol and a divorce had taken its toll on his humanity, which he found himself trying to find at the bottom of empty bourbon bottles, but had so far reached a dead end. Didn't stop him from trying some more. The day had been a long one and as he reached the end of the bottle, he felt like he had been there all day, but only a couple of hours had passed. He checked the bottle for any signs of what he had lost, but it was empty. He considered throwing the bottle in an act of spiritual defiance, but changed his mind. He decided to keep this one.
The convention below him had been on all week. Scientists from all over had come to show their new discoveries and inventions. Strange powders said to cure all ailments, a glass ball that created light from a tiny wire, but the one Reggie was most interested in seeing was a radio to some unknown place. The scientist that had made it was advertising it as a radio to God; a sales trick he probably employed knowing he was in the God fearing, God's wrath backwaters of America. Reggie was intrigued by what the radio picked-up, but he was damn sure it wasn't God.
As Reggie was pondering making his way over to the scientists stand, he was tapped on his shoulder by a tall slender man in uniform, who for a man as stiff looking as he was, spoke in a very soft voice; “Reggie le Cray?” The enquiry came.
“Depends?” Reggie said questionably
“Captain Silas”
At that point Reggie knew he could resist, but would still end up going with the tall slender man, he was in no fit state to overpower him. Reggie rose up, the bourbon slumps suddenly sobered out of him. The tall man in uniform led him to an unmarked car, strange Reggie thought to wear the uniform of a police officer, but not use the car of one. He had considered this may have been a ruse to catch him off guard by someone he had scuffled with in a random bar whilst intoxicated, but no one sprang to mind. The mans legs were as long and slender as the rest of him, for every step he took Reggie had to take two, so running was out of the question. Plus the officer had a six shot holstered, probably looked like a childs toy in his hands. Reggie resigned himself to following the man to his car.
Also one last thing, I've always been a protractor of a kind act no matter how small can lead to a massive change not only in someone's life, but more importantly their outlook on life in general. With that said I've been asked to share this here on behalf of a friend, I wouldn't assume to ask for a donation to it, but sometimes just sharing it on your profiles on social media is worth more
